In 1885, Dr. John S. Pemberton, a doctor from Georgetown, USA, mixed carbonated water and soda water together in the cellar to form a dark syrup. His partner, Flank M Robinson, inspired the name from the two ingredients of the syrup, and Coca-Cola, the most successful soft drink in history, was born.

In 1887, John Pemberton registered the trademark "Coca-Cola Syrup and Concentrate" with the U.S. Patent Office and obtained its intellectual property rights.

On August 30, 1888, the equity of Coca-Cola was transferred to the wealthy Asa Chandler.

In 1893, the Coca-Cola Spencer trademark was officially registered in the U.S. Patent Office.

In 1899, Isaac Kedler sold the bottling rights and retained ownership of the secret formula and Coca-Cola name.
