What are the test requirements for the power cord?
CSA standard c 22.2 No.49-98 clearly stipulates the safety requirements of flexible wires and cables. In order to make readers understand R&D and related requirements before manufacturing, the following three parts are explained and briefly introduced.

Mark (mark)

Marking on the wire (mandatory requirement): 6 10 mm on the wire must appear at least once.

1. Company name (or CSA contract number, registered trademark/commodity name).

2. Temperature grade (the temperature grade higher than the minimum temperature must be printed on the wire).

3. Type, diameter and quantity of wires (such as SPT-2 16AWGX3C). Note: In CSA standard, the word "NI" cannot be marked on the wire rod for non-integrity, which is only regarded as structural difference.

4. Combustion grade (FT 1, FT2 or FT4, if the conductor meets FT4 or VW- 1, it is unnecessary to mark FT 1 or FT2, if it meets FT 1).

Marks on wires (printing is required in the following cases)

Outdoor wires such as 1. Pigs, sows ... are marked with a temperature grade of -40℃.

2. If there is occlusion, print "occlusion".

If the conductor is steel wire, it should be printed with "steel core".

4. If the material is TPE (Thermoplastic Elastomer), it should be printed with "TPE Insulation and Sheath".

5.SPT- 1, SPT-2, SPT-3 and HPN are grounded, and "green wires are only used for grounding" or "green wires with yellow stripes are only used for grounding".

Marking on the wire (optional requirement): Printing is allowed when the customer has the following requirements.

1. voltage value.

2.w type can be printed with "waterproof" or "waterproof 60C".

Marking on the package (mandatory):

1. Company name (or CSA contract number, registered trademark/commodity name).

2. Date of manufacture (at least marked with year and month), or other recognizable codes.

3. Type, diameter and quantity of wires (such as SPT-2 16AWGX3C).

4. Voltage value.

5.SPT-2 uses a conductor consisting of 30AWG, which should be marked as "only for universal extension cord kit".

6. when 6. PXT and SPT- 1 are 20AWG and should be marked "Not for public retail".

7. The product has special circumstances, such as "small diameter or large diameter wire is being processed" or "non-general use".

Scope of wire use

1. Ultra-hard wire: (for example, ST series) "Used for high-power mobile equipment, with the highest mechanical strength. 』

2. Hard cord: (such as SJ, SPT-3 series) "Used for medium-power handheld devices with medium mechanical strength. 』

3. Non-hard line: (such as SVT, SPT- 1, SPT-2, etc.). ) "When used on lamps, it is not easy to bend when used, and it must not be held by hand, so the mechanical strength is poor. 』

4. Special purpose cord: (such as PXWT, CXWT, PXT, TX) "Special power cord is generally used in products such as Christmas light strings for indoor/outdoor use. 』

Tinselcord: (such as TPT, etc. ) "Copper foil silk thread is used in products that are often wound, such as the charging line of electric shaver. 』

Wire structure

First, the command:

Annealed copper or annealed coated copper must be used and meet the requirements of ASTM standards B 3, B 33 or B 189.

A. conductor (conductor):

The conductor area of single-stranded or multi-stranded conductor shall meet the requirements in Table 3. 1.

B. Stranding: Conductors used in power lines must be bundled or stranded, and the minimum and maximum copper diameters of individual conductors must meet the requirements in Table 3.2.

C. Twist of strands: the chief of strands and ropes should not be greater than the requirements in Table 3.3, and the chief is infinitely fixed.

Second, the insulation:

The plastic material used for the power cord should refer to Table 3. 13 according to the temperature grade and the place of use.

Third, the total laying distance:

The laying distance shall meet the requirements in Table 3.4.

Four, grounding conductor (adhesive or grounding conductor):

The ground wire must be insulated (generally green) and its wire diameter must be greater than or equal to the live wire (except for the ground wire diameter of DRT which is greater than 8AWG, it can be less than 2 AWG).

Verb (abbreviation for verb) outer quilt:

The thickness of the outer sheath shall conform to Table 3.6~3. 10 (round cable) and Table 5.4 (parallel cable), and the outer diameter shall conform to Table 3. 1 1 (round cable).

Integral type and non-integral type: at present, the non-integral type has SPT- 1, SPT-2, 2-3 cores, and the integral type has SPT- 1, -2, -3, PXT, HPN and other wires.

Six, color code:

In order to facilitate the plumber's wiring and final product installation, as well as the identification of lines, neutral lines and bonding, the color of insulation layer shall meet the requirements in Table 3. 12. For example, in the three-wire type, black represents the fire line, white or light gray represents the zero line, and green or green rolling yellow represents the ground line. If the products are sold to Europe (international color coding), the fire wire color can be changed to brown, the zero wire color can be changed to light blue, and the ground wire color can be changed to green rolling yellow. Parallel threads (such as SPT- 1, HPN, etc. ) must be distinguished by the ridges and lines produced by line extrusion at the identified ends or using ink.

Seven, outdoor wires and cables:

(such as SJTW, SJTOW, sjtouw, STW, STOW, PXWT, CXWT), it takes a long time to apply for verification test, because in addition to normal test, it is necessary to evaluate the long-term insulation resistance at temperature according to CSA standard C22.2 No.75, and the time is at least 24 weeks.

Test (test)

CSA standard C22.2No. 49-98 has many requirements for testing, and its testing procedures are listed in C22.2 No.0.3-0 1 (testing methods for wires and cables, and the testing chapters mentioned in this paper are all from this standard). The following are brief descriptions of some major tests:
