Origin: Italy

Brand history:

The young Italian fashion wizard Gabriele Corto Moltedo, a 28-year-old designer, is the founder of the Italian luxury brand Bottega Veneta (1966 Son of founders Laura and Vittorio Moltedo. The Moltedos often instilled business knowledge in Corto at family dinners, so he inherited not only his mother's creativity but also his father's business talents. In addition, when he was a student, he often worked at the Bottega factory during summer vacations.

Five years ago, when his parents sold the company to the Gucci Group, he also accepted a new life challenge - studying art history in New York and earning a master's degree in marketing and media.

“I want to create a new luxury brand, which targets girls who not only want to buy new leather bags from Chloe and Balenciaga, but also want to be unconventional. What they pursue is avant-garde and individuality, which is exactly what they want. What I can offer them,” Corto said at his fashion showroom in Paris’s 8th arrondissement.

Upstart luxury brand

As a designer, he does everything himself. Corto recently opened his own factory outside Florence, where he spends much of his time personally guiding his employees through everything they do. Corto said that every product requires a lot of preparation work, especially when it is aimed at a service market that has many opportunities but is not large in scale, and the preparation work needs to be done perfectly.

The hard work paid off, and his hard work finally paid off

"Sunday Times" rated Corto Moltedo among the "Top Ten Fall Fashions" As "the coolest new bag brand". Online store Net-a-Porter, top department stores in Tokyo, and Le Bon Marche and Maria Luisa in Paris have all selected leather bags designed by Corto Moltedo. These leather bags are made of top-quality materials, marked with "luxurious, high-end, and satisfying" and named after women. A native Florida craftsman accessorized the collection with jewelry and hats.

Fur Muse

Fur design is crucial to creating a luxury brand. Therefore, before Corto founded the Hockley series, he studied at the Saga Design Center in VEDBAEK, Denmark.

He commented: "The rich design tradition and many outstanding ideas of the Saga Design Center greatly encourage me. The Saga Design Center is like a fur think tank, and all famous designers have visited it. Contributed to the development of fur clothing. ”

Corto chose mink as the fabric with high plasticity. His Pricilla bag is made from sheared mink and python, while the Patti bag has mink sewn onto elastic straps, giving the mink more volume and lightness.

“I cut five or six stripes on the surface of the mink, then twisted the ends so that the leather could be seen. I also sewed very elegant lace under the leather.” Corto explained.

The Star bag he designed is made of black, brown and white mink cut into star shapes - the exact shape of Corto's trademark. "He's a star," Corto's assistant smiled as he showed off the bag.

The Cowgirl bag's handles are made from mink-wrapped rope, which Corto learned at the Saga Design Center skills.

“I like to combine fine and rough elements, taking complex elements and mixed materials and making them into clean and crisp products,” says Corto.
