It has only been one day since Huawei launched its first notebook product, the MateBook, and the outside world has received mixed reviews about this product, full of expectations and doubts. Although Huawei is doing well in the mobile phone industry, it is its first time to enter the notebook industry. How it will turn out depends on consumers. Taiwanese media reported today that the notebook comes from Foxconn Electronics’ ODM. ODM, also known as Original Design Manufacturer, is a manufacturer that designs and produces products based on the specifications and requirements of another manufacturer. In other words, Huawei notebooks were designed and manufactured by Foxconn according to Huawei's requirements, and then Huawei used them and put their own brand on them, commonly known as "OEM". As for the OEM that everyone is familiar with, the full name is Original Equipment Manufacture (Original Equipment Manufacturer), that is, after one manufacturer designs the product, it is handed over to another manufacturer to be responsible for manufacturing, commonly known as "OEM". Foxconn entered the notebook ODM market for the first time in 2009, but due to meager profits, and the OEM iPhone 4 in 2010 brought more profits, it withdrew from notebook ODM in 2011, but unexpectedly came back for Huawei.
Huawei has not yet made any response to the news broke by Taiwanese media. We all know that Foxconn is the largest electronic product OEM in the world. In order to save costs, brands like Apple and Huawei choose Foxconn. Designed and manufactured according to their requirements, and then put their own brand on it.
