Since the establishment of Lanxi, the city has won many reputations:

● In the Song Dynasty, Lanxi was known as "Jiangnan".

● During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it was known as "Xiaojin Huafu, Dalanxi County" and "Xiaoxi Saisuhang".

● During the Republic of China, it was known as "little shanghai".

● Lanxi is one of the first open counties (cities) approved by the State Council;
