The examination procedure for trademark application registration in Korea is divided into formal examination and substantive examination

Formal examination

will be accepted within half a month after the application is submitted. The submitted application documents will be formally reviewed within one month after the application is accepted. Applications that do not meet the requirements will be given a certain period of revision and correction. If the content after correction meets the requirements, it will enter the substantive review process. The Trademark Office that does not meet the requirements can declare the trademark registration application invalid;

Substantive examination

Generally, it takes twelve to fourteen months from application to the end of the substantive examination

< p> When the examiner determines that the registration application meets the approval standards after review, he will make a trademark registration announcement. If the application does not meet the approval standards, the applicant will be notified and asked to make a statement within a specified period.

If the application meets the requirements for registration approval after making comments or corrections, the trademark registration application will be announced. If the application still does not meet the approval requirements, a rejection decision will be made.
