One day in 2006, 27 village representatives from Darong Village approached Tang Yongfu, hoping that he would lead them in building roads.
Darong Village is located in Lianghekou Town, Chishui City, Guizhou Province, with an average altitude of about 800 meters. The mountains are high and the slopes are steep, and there are no industries. There is only one muddy mountain road leading out of the village, making it very difficult for villagers to travel and transport supplies. Tang Yongfu was the community director of Lianghekou Town at the time. He immediately accepted this "errand" and was determined to lead everyone to build a road out of poverty and become rich.
Soon, Tang Yongfu personally went into battle and led the villagers to work. There was a shortage of funds for road construction, so he spent 40,000 yuan himself and used his own assets as collateral to help villagers borrow 210,000 yuan. The hard work paid off. After one year and eight months, Tang Yongfu and his fellow villagers carved a 5.5-kilometer winding mountain road on a cliff with a vertical height of 500 meters. In October 2011, Tang Yongfu led the villagers to excavate 258 acres of fish ponds and established a professional cooperative for cold-water fish breeding farmers. It adopted the "branch cooperative farmer" model and implemented unified purchase of seedlings, unified epidemic prevention, unified management, unified purchase, and unified dividend distribution.
After the ecological fish was launched, the market feedback was surprisingly good. In 2016, the per capita net income of villagers doubled from 6,000 yuan three years ago to 12,000 yuan. The cold water fish in Lianghekou Town also successfully registered the bamboo leaf fish trademark. In addition to the cold water fish farming project, nearly 170 villagers in Darong Village have developed special plantings. They have developed 1,526 acres of walnut planting and 200 acres of kiwi fruit planting. Large-scale profits can be realized in 2018. At the same time, Darong Village has also increased the cultivation of high-yield forests. It has now cultivated 1,600 acres of high-yield miscellaneous bamboo forests and 2,000 acres of high-yield phoebe bamboo forests, which can generate an annual income of more than 2 million yuan. Today, Tang Yongfu has been elected as secretary of the Party branch of Darong Village. Opposite his model worker innovation studio, an archway inscribed with "Thanksgiving Hall" is very eye-catching. In the next step, Tang Yongfu hopes to achieve a collective economic accumulation of more than 500,000 yuan at the village level and a per capita disposable income of farmers of more than 15,000 yuan, so that the people of Darong Village can embark on the road to real prosperity.
