Frank's parents owned a small restaurant called Paninis in Charleroi, Pennsylvania. The restaurant is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Frank's first official job was to shine shoes for people who came to eat in restaurants.
Frank was 6 years old at the time. His father also polished leather shoes when he was a child, so he taught Frank how to polish leather shoes. His father told Frank that after polishing his shoes, he should ask the customer for his opinion. If he was not satisfied, he would polish the shoes again.
As he grew older, Frank had to do more work. When he was 10 years old, he was still responsible for clearing the dining table and doing handyman work. Dad beamed and told Frank that he was the best handyman he had ever hired.
Frank was very proud to work in the restaurant because he worked so hard to make life better for the whole family. But his father made it clear that in order to be a member of the restaurant staff, he had to meet certain standards. Frank had to be on time, be diligent, and be courteous to his guests.
Except for shining shoes, Frank's other jobs in the restaurant were unpaid. One day, he did a stupid thing: he said to his father: "You should give me 10 dollars a week."
The father replied: "Okay, then you eat three dollars a day here." Should I also be paid for the meal? What if you sometimes bring your friends to the restaurant to drink soda for free?”
My father thought for a moment and said, “You pay about 100 per week?” You owe me $40.”
Later, Frank returned home after serving in the army for two years. At that time, Frank had just been promoted to captain. He proudly walked into his parents' restaurant. The first thing his father said was: "The handyman has the day off today. How about you doing some cleaning tonight?"
< p>Frank thought to himself: "Did I hear wrongly! I am now an officer in the U.S. Army! But what does it matter? To my father, I am still a waiter in the restaurant..." So , Frank picked up the mop and mopped the floor. The love our parents give us is selfless, and we must use our lifelong efforts to repay our parents' love with all our heart.
