2. Information required for Romanian trademark registration

III. Romanian trademark registration process (single country registration)

1. Formal review

After the application is submitted, the Trademark Office will review the legality of the submitted application documents, trademark drawings, power of attorney and other documents; If it meets the requirements, the application date and application number will be awarded. (It will take about 3-4 months)

2. Substantive examination

According to the law, examine whether the trademark is registrable and violates the prohibition clause of the Trademark Law. For trademarks that fail to pass the substantive examination, the examiner will notify the applicant in writing and inform the reasons for rejection. The applicant can submit a review within the time limit from the date of receiving the notice of rejection, otherwise, the application will be regarded as abandoned, and the application date and application number will not be retained.

3. Announcement and Objection

After the trademark has passed the examination, the applicant will be informed that the trademark application has been accepted and published in the trademark announcement. Anyone can raise an objection within the three-month announcement period, state the reasons and submit relevant evidence.

4. Registration

A trademark that has been ruled to be registrable after objection, or a trademark that has been announced without objection, will be allowed to be registered and a registration certificate will be issued. The whole smooth application process (if there is no rejection, objection, etc.) will take about 12-2 months.

iv. period of validity of Romanian trademark

if the trademark is valid for 1 years and needs to be used after the registration expires, it should apply for renewal of registration six months before the registration expires, and the renewal period will be changed to 1 years.
