Was there a tire factory in China before the founding of the People's Republic of China?

Yes, and quite a few!

In 1949, there were only 4 factories in my country: Hualin Rubber Factory, Qingdao Rubber Factory No. 2, Shanghai Great China Rubber Factory, and Shanghai Chint Rubber Factory

Qingdao Rubber Factory No. 2: formerly The Qingdao Rubber Factory of Qingdao Rubber Industry Co., Ltd. was formed in February 1944 after the merger of the Sun Rubber Shoe Factory (commissioned in 1935), the BS Tire Making Factory and the Fabric Factory (commissioned in 1939) in Qingdao when Japan invaded China in the 1930s.

Shanghai Great China Rubber Factory was founded by Yu Zhiqing (a native of Ningbo, Zhejiang), an overseas Chinese businessman who invested 80,000 silver dollars, and was born in the 15th year of the Republic of China (1926) with Xue Fuji and Wu Zhe. In early February of that year, an agreement was reached. The Japanese A-shaped Humo (Rubber) Factory was responsible for training technical personnel for manufacturing overshoes and providing a full set of machinery and equipment. The Chinese side sent personnel to Japan to negotiate for the purchase of equipment.

In the 16th year of the Republic of China (1927), we rented 27 acres of land to build a factory at No. 1102 Xujiahui Road, Shanghai. In the summer of the same year, Japanese Yoshizo Kato was specially hired to guide interns in Japan; at the same time, a newspaper was posted to recruit technicians to come to China to install equipment and guide production. Production was put into operation on October 30 of the following year, with 83 employees and nearly 1,000 pairs of overshoes produced per day. The Shuangqian trademark was registered and approved in October of the following year. In the 19th year of the Republic of China, the Transportation Rubber Factory was acquired and renamed: Great China Rubber Factory No. 2. In September of the Republic of China, the Japanese Taishan Humo Factory and Chunhua Rubber Factory were acquired successively and renamed to Great China Rubber Factory No. 3 and No. 4 respectively. , the old Xujiahui factory (No. 839 Hengshan Road) is called: Great China Rubber Factory No. 1 (previous picture).
