The Nice Classification refers to the Nice Agreement on the International Classification of Goods and Services for Trademark Registration. Nice is a French place name.
The Nice Agreement on the International Classification of Goods and Services for the Purpose of Trademark Registration was signed in Nice, France on June 15, 1957 and came into effect on April 8, 1961. Our country has not participated in this agreement, but it has begun to use the International Goods Classification for trademark registration in November 1988. After the implementation of the amendment to the Trademark Law on July 1, 1993, it has also begun to use the International Services Classification. The Nice Agreement mainly stipulates the classification of goods and services, which divides goods into thirty-four categories and services into eight categories. This classification provides great convenience for trademark search and trademark management.
