If you don't call it "Lu Ze", call it "Lu Fang", FAW Toyota's version of "Highlander" will be unveiled soon

Highlander has been on the domestic market for many years and has always been the representative of "large seven-seat SUVs". Since its launch, countless seven-seat SUVs have chosen Highlander as their lifelong rival. But there are few that can really beat the Highlander in terms of sales.

Many car companies are racking their brains to "match" the Highlander, but if they really want to defeat it, I am afraid that only the Highlander's own replacement model will do. The new-generation Highlander was launched in North America last year. Recently, spy photos of road tests of suspected domestic models have appeared in China. However, it is not just GAC Toyota's Highlander that will appear in China this time, FAW Toyota's Highlander is also arranged.

Recently, some media exposed photos of the SUV body taken at the FAW Toyota factory. As can be seen from the body in the photo, its length is close to the current Highlander model, and the waistline of the side door is consistent with the latest generation of Highlander that has been released. From these two points, we infer that this should be the FAW Toyota version of "Highlander". It is reported that this car will be officially unveiled at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November at the earliest.

In fact, the FAW Toyota version of the Highlander is not a recent one. As early as the beginning of this year, there were constant reports that FAW Toyota was stepping up the construction of a project code-named "770B". This car is positioned as It is a medium-sized SUV, and FAW Toyota's supplier directly calls it the FAW Toyota version of "Highlander". At the end of 2018, FAW Toyota registered the two trademarks "Lu Ze" and "Lu Fang". Perhaps the official name of the new car will be one of the two.

According to previous FAW Toyota bidding information and environmental impact assessment documents, the FAW Toyota version of the "Highlander" code-named "770B" may only launch a hybrid version. For reference, the RAV4 Rongfang 2.5L dual-engine version is equipped with a THS-II hybrid system composed of an A25B-FXS 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder naturally aspirated engine, dual motors, and a planetary gear E-CVT transmission. The engine's maximum power is 178 horsepower, and the system's comprehensive maximum power is 222 horsepower.

As for the appearance, it will definitely be different from the GAC Toyota version of the Highlander. Generally speaking, the GAC version of Toyota models will be consistent with the overseas version, while the FAW version of Toyota will have some "magic modifications" to make a difference. But it is certain that everything from TNGA to body structure and configuration will remain almost the same. It seems that Highlander will eventually need to defeat itself.
