A turtle cannot survive without its shell. As for the reasons, let’s briefly analyze them below.

First of all, the turtle's shell can protect the turtle from harm caused by predators. Without the shell, the turtle can only be slaughtered by predators. We all know that the crawling speed of turtles is very slow. Even in the water, turtles cannot travel fast enough. The slow-moving turtle's ability to avoid harm from predators largely relies on the protection of its shell. After all, many predators cannot destroy the hard shell of a turtle, and they cannot eat the fat meat like a turtle. And if the turtle does not have a shell, then in front of many predators, the turtle is just a slowly moving piece of meat, and the turtle can be eaten casually.

Secondly, due to the special body structure, the turtle shell is equivalent to the bones of the turtle. Without the shell, the turtle would become a mollusk and would still not be able to survive. Most animals in nature have bones wrapped in flesh, and due to different body structures, turtles are an animal with bones wrapped in flesh. Since the outer turtle shell is hard enough, there are no bones in the turtle's body to support the turtle inside the shell. If the turtle shell is removed, the turtle is equivalent to an invertebrate mollusk. In this case, it will be difficult for the turtle to hunt, eat, or carry out daily activities, and it will definitely not survive for long.

Finally, turtles are amphibious animals. Without their shells, they basically cannot survive on land, let alone lay eggs to hatch the next generation. Since turtles do not have thick fur or rough skin, if the shell is removed, the water on the turtle's surface will evaporate quickly, causing the turtle to become dehydrated. Also, walking on land requires friction with the ground. Without the protection of the turtle shell, the delicate skin of the turtle will be damaged, and it will not survive long.
