The predecessor of Qingdao Shuangdie Group Co., Ltd. was the Qingdao Latex Factory founded in 1956. It was restructured in 1994 and Shuangdie Group was established in 1999. It currently governs 6 independent legal entities and is a large-scale national secondary enterprise. It has nearly 3,000 shareholders and employees, a registered capital of 50 million yuan, and a total share capital of 50 million shares. It is a key enterprise in the national chemical industry system, a designated manufacturer of condom products under the national mandatory plan, and is listed as a high-tech enterprise and provincial technology center in Qingdao. The Shuangdie trademark has been rated as a famous trademark in Shandong Province and Qingdao City. In 2001, Shuangdie products passed the US FDA certification, in 2002 they passed the CE certification of the German TUV certification body, the South African Bureau of Standards SABS certification, and were among the first batch to pass the national compulsory CCC certification. In 2002, Qingdao Shuangdie Group Co., Ltd. passed the ISO9001 international quality system certification.

In 1998, Double Butterfly Group and the British London International Group jointly established the only joint venture in China to produce and sell the world-famous brand "Durex" series of condoms.

In 2000, the British government provided free assistance to China's "Prevention and Treatment of STDs and AIDS" project. Double Butterfly Group and the British Prospect Group won the bid in one fell swoop, and the "Double Butterfly" brand became the only product designated for the project in China.

Since 1999, the "Double Butterfly" brand has won bids from the United Nations Population Fund and the World Bank to provide condom support to poor countries for four consecutive years.
