Historical evolution
The county belonged to the State of Jin in the Spring and Autumn Period, and Jinzhou was established in the Yuan Dynasty. In the second year of the Republic of China, it was named after the name of Jinxian, Prefecture and County.
It was named Drum Country in the Spring and Autumn Period, belonging to Julu County, and its city site is now Gucheng Village. In the Western Han Dynasty, the county was established to lower Quyang. After the Wei Dynasty, it was renamed Xiaquyang, and the county government was in Gucheng Village (formerly known as Pocheng). The Northern Qi Dynasty abolished Quyang County and merged it into Gaocheng. In the 16th year of Emperor Kai of Sui Dynasty (AD 596), it was separated from Haocheng and restored as Xiyang County. In the 18th year of Emperor Kai (AD 598), it was renamed as Gucheng County, which belonged to Zhao County. In the tenth year of Yuan Taizu (AD 1215), the county rose to a state, named Jinzhou. In the second year of the Republic of China (AD 1913), the state was changed to a county, which was called Jinxian County. In the 28th year of the Republic of China (AD 1939), on January 16th, Jinxian was occupied by the Japanese army. In May of the following year, taking Shide Railway as the boundary, Jinbei County was built in the north and Jin (South) County was built in the south. In 1941, Jin (South) County was merged with the south of Haocheng and some areas of Zhengding County to build Jinhao County, and Jinbei County was merged with Shenze and Wuji to form Jinshenji County. In 1942, Jinshenji County and Shubei County were merged to form Shujin County, all of which belonged to the Eighth Agency of Jizhong. On September 3, 1945, the Japanese army left Jinxian in the north and resumed the establishment of Jinxian. Xiliuzhang Village in Jinxian was placed under Haocheng, and Xinzhuang was placed under Wuji County. After the flood in 1956, Longquan Gu Village in the south of Hutuo River in Wuji County was assigned to Jinxian County. In November 1958, Jinxian County and Shenze County were merged into Shulu County. In May 1961, Shulu County was re-established in Jinxian County (including Shenze County).
