The synthesis method of chlorohydrin rubber is coordination polymerization of alkyl aluminum-water-acetylacetone catalytic system, and the solution polymerization process with benzene, toluene and chloroethane as reaction media is generally adopted in production. The post-treatment of mucilage is similar to other processes of producing rubber by solution polymerization.
Because there is no double bond in the main chain, it cannot be vulcanized with sulfur alone. Commonly used vulcanizing agents are α-mercaptoimidazole and trimethylthiourea. Commonly used reinforcing agents are carbon black and silicate. The disadvantage of chlorohydrin rubber is poor processability. Homogeneous rubber needs to be mixed with lubricant and anti-sticking agent to prevent roller sticking, while poly rubber needs to be added with tackifier to promote roller winding.
