In 1650 AD, an old man named Lao Cheng came to the ancient city of Changsha and opened an unnamed small pharmacy on Pozi Street. This was Lao Jiuzhitang. predecessor. Lao Cheng's son, Lao Ji, named the drugstore "Lao Jiuzhitang" after his father's "Picture of Tianxiang Bookstore" (in which double osmanthus is planted, and cinnamon grows Jiuzhi).

In 1918 AD, the business of the drug store encountered a bottleneck, and the tribe elected Monk Lao Kun as the manager. He advanced 300 yuan in cash from his own pocket, enriched the working capital, and worked hard to reorganize the store's operations, bringing the drug store back to life and creating a renaissance situation.

In 1930 AD, the drug store’s annual turnover reached 180,000 silver dollars. On the eve of the Anti-Japanese War, Lao Jiuzhitang's accumulated funds reached 400,000 silver dollars (including real estate).

In November 1938, a fire broke out in Changsha's "Wenxi". The store was burned down and more than half of the capital was lost.

In 1944 AD, the Japanese army invaded Changsha, and the drug store moved to Lantian Town (now Lianyuan County) for small-scale operations. It was not until the victory of the Anti-Japanese War that it returned to Changsha and resumed business.

In 1953 AD, the spring breeze of national liberation brought recovery and revitalization to Lao Jiuzhitang, and the private "Xinzhong Pharmaceutical Factory" was established.

In 1956 AD, the public-private partnership was dominated by Lao Jiuzhitang Pharmacy, which merged several pharmacies to establish the "Jiuzhitang Processing Factory" and designed and launched the "Zhi" brand trademark. Since then, Laojiuzhitang Pharmacy has bid farewell to its long turbulent history and entered a new era.

In 1959 AD, it was renamed "Jiuzhitang Pharmaceutical Factory".

In 1967 AD, the name was changed to "Changsha Traditional Chinese Medicine Factory".

In 1971 AD, it was renamed "Changsha No. 1 Chinese Medicine Factory".

In 1978 AD, the name was changed to "Changsha No. 1 Traditional Chinese Medicine Factory".

In June 1992, a press conference was held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing to restore the name of the "Changsha Jiuzhitang Pharmaceutical Factory".

In June 1993, "Jiuzhitang Pharmacy" opened in Longzhong, Huangxing Road, Changsha City.

In June 1994, it was restructured into Changsha Jiuzhitang Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd., realizing the transition from a factory system to a company system.

In 1995 AD, it merged with the state-owned medium-sized commercial enterprise Changsha Medicinal Materials Company, effectively achieving the goal of integrating industry and commerce and complementing each other's advantages.

In August 1996, in order to speed up the establishment of a modern enterprise system and actively implement the group's development strategy, Changsha Jiuzhitang (Group) Co., Ltd. was formally established through a strong alliance with Changsha Shenjian Pharmaceutical Factory.

In May 1999, the group company, SDIC Pharmaceutical Investment Co., Ltd. (now changed to SDIC Venture Capital Co., Ltd.), Hainan Xiangyuan Economic and Trade Company (now changed to Hainan Xiangyuan Industry and Trade Co., Ltd.), Hunan Provincial Pharmaceutical Company, Hunan Changsha Friendship (Group) Co., Ltd. (now changed to Hunan Friendship Apollo Co., Ltd.) and other five sponsors established Hunan Jiuzhitang Co., Ltd. by sponsorship.

In June 2000, Hunan Jiuzhitang Co., Ltd. publicly issued 40 million A shares to the public and was listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in the same month, raising 360 million yuan.

In July 2003, Hunan Jiuzhitang Co., Ltd. successfully issued 51 million new shares and raised 500 million yuan.

In 2004, Jiuzhitang ranked second in the pharmaceutical industry of listed companies in China in Shenzhen and Shanghai, and ranked first in Shenzhen. Its overall strength ranked first in the pharmaceutical industry in Hunan Province. In June, Hunan Jiuzhitang Co., Ltd. changed its name to "Jiuzhitang Co., Ltd."

In 2005, the strategic integration of Jiuzhitang’s industry and commerce was completed.
