Having had the pleasure of driving many different vehicles over the past few years, one thing is very clear to me: electric motors make cars better. They are very efficient and can recover energy wasted when braking. They produce large amounts of torque almost instantly and respond in a fraction of the time it takes an internal combustion engine to take a deep breath. And they do all of this virtually silently, making them ideal for luxury vehicle applications.
This new plug-in hybrid is Bentley’s second PHEV. This will be before the launch of the brand's first battery EV in 2025, followed by a hybrid SUV. Like the SUV, a 2.9-liter V6 gasoline engine sits under the wide hood, producing 410 hp (306 kW) and 406 lb-ft (550 Nm).
The engine uses 134 hp (100 kW) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of electric motors to share the work of driving the FlyingSpur hybrid, with both engine and electric motor using the same eight-speed powershift to drive all four A wheel.
