In the process of deepening the reform of the scientific and technological system, the institute consciously faces the market and accelerates the transformation of scientific and technological achievements. 1993, 1994 and 1995 won the "Science and Technology Achievements Transformation Award" from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Finance and the State Science and Technology Commission for three consecutive years. More than 50 kinds of products in five categories, such as famous and excellent silkworm varieties, new silkworm medicine series products, mulberry medicine and other mulberry garden specialties, silkworm machinery and equipment, and comprehensive utilization of cocoon and silk resources, have been developed and popularized. Among them, there are 3 national key new products and 10 patents for inventions and utility models, which have created two well-known trademarks, "Diya" and "Diefu".

Promoting agriculture through science and technology, helping the poor through science and technology and rural basic work have been carried out continuously. It has successively established Wuxi Xizhang silkworm egg development base and more than 30 rural silkworm areas, improved seed breeding points or sericulture technology demonstration and promotion points, such as Shanghai Jinshan, Jiangsu Jurong, Hai 'an, Yunnan Mengzi and Shandong Qingdao. Two deputy heads of science and technology were sent to poverty-stricken areas, old and young, to actively carry out poverty alleviation through science and technology.
