At Outlook.com Import or subscribe to a calendar from

Outlook.com

Here's how to stay connected

See all the features Outlook has to offer.

Click to Unlock Outlook

You can search and add holiday calendars and calendars from school, sports teams, TV, and TeamSnap without leaving Outlook.com. See Add a calendar in Outlook.com.

If the calendar you want is not available in Outlook.com, you can import events from an .ics file into an existing calendar, or subscribe to a calendar online and receive automatic updates (called an ICS subscription or iCal Subscription). Calendars can be imported from websites or calendar programs that support the .ics file format, such as Apple iCal, Google Calendar, and Mozilla Lightning.

You can search the Internet for iCal lists, such as those found at iCalShare.com. Websites for theaters, sports teams, and schools often have an "Add to Calendar" link that can be used to download iCal.

Note: Microsoft is not responsible for the accuracy or content of any third-party calendars. We recommend reviewing the terms and conditions of any third-party calendar before importing or subscribing to it.

Uploading a calendar from a file

Note: When importing an .ics file, the calendar does not refresh the imported events, even if the calendar's owner updates it.

Locate the calendar you want to add and save it to your computer as an .ics file.

Sign in to Outlook.com

At the bottom of the page, select ?.

In the navigation pane, select Add Calendar.

Select Upload from the file.

Select Browse, select the .ics file to upload, and then select Open.

Select the calendar to which you want to import the file, and then select Import.

Subscribe to a calendar

Note: When subscribing to a calendar, if other calendars are updated, the calendar will automatically refresh. Sometimes this may take more than 24 hours.

Sign in to Outlook.com

At the bottom of the page, select ?.

In the navigation pane, select Add Calendar.

Select Subscribe from the Web.

Enter the calendar's URL.

Select "Import".

What to do if you don't see Add Calendar

If the navigation pane next to your calendar is collapsed, you must expand it to access the Add Calendar feature.

To expand the navigation pane, select the ? icon at the top of the calendar.

Differences between importing and subscribing to calendars

If you import an .ics file, you can get a snapshot of the events in the calendar while importing. Calendar does not automatically refresh imported events - even if the calendar owner creates updates. This is a great way to add events that won't change, such as tide tables or moon phases, to an existing calendar.

Subscribe to an online calendar to connect it to your calendar. Whenever the subscribed calendar owner changes an event, Outlook.com updates the calendar.

This is a great way to keep track of events that change frequently, like movie dates or the school calendar.

Note: This update may take more than 24 hours to complete, but updates occur approximately every 3 hours.
