Due to its small market share, 7-up's sales were decreasing. Chinese name
The Chinese translation of 7up was first translated by a Hong Kong company. The free translation of 7up is "seven rises", but the literal meaning is not good, so its Cantonese homophone "qixi" is used as the official Chinese name. Later, mainland China and Taiwan also directly adopted the name Qixi.
