In 1965, Li Xiaodong was born into an ordinary peasant family in Xinkai Town, Dawa County, Panjin.

In 1980, Li Xiaodong was admitted to Dalian Fisheries School to major in mariculture.

In 1984, Li Xiaodong graduated from Dalian Fisheries School and was assigned to a breeding farm in his hometown of Dawa County.

In 1990, with sweat and tears, Li Xiaodong successfully filled the gap in ecological crab breeding in China.

In 1992, he invested in the research of raising river crabs in rice fields, helping farmers design breeding plans and explaining crab farming techniques. Crab farming in rice fields was a success, creating the concept of "one water for two purposes, one land for two harvests, "Rice Crab Health" ecological breeding model.

In 1999, he founded Photosynthetic Crab Co., Ltd., which has provided farmers with a total profit of more than 17 million yuan in 13 years.

In 2002, he was admitted to Ocean University of China to study for a doctoral degree.

In 2009, President Hu Jintao cordially received Li Xiaodong, chairman of Panjin Photosynthetic Aquatic Products Co., Ltd., a representative of the National People's Congress.

In 2010, the market share of photosynthetic aquatic crab seedlings alone reached 9%, ranking first in the country. It has led more than 9,000 franchised farmers to form an agricultural industry army, with a cumulative output value of 500 million yuan.

In 2011, the "Dong" brand trademark was recognized as a national well-known trademark; the "Dong" brand Panjin river crab series was awarded the "Panjin Famous Brand Product Title".

In 2012, Li Xiaodong was elected as a representative of the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China;
