In 1984, the Standing Committee of the Lanzhou Municipal People's Congress decided that the bitter water rose should be the city flower of Lanzhou. Kushui Rose has successively obtained the origin mark registration certificate issued by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, and the trademark registration certificate issued by the State Administration for Industry and Commerce. It is an agricultural product geographical indication registration certified by the Ministry of Agriculture and a pollution-free agricultural product.

The historical origin of Lanzhou lily:
In the eighth year of Xianfeng reign of the Qing Dynasty (1858), Lanzhou introduced lilies from Changwu and Bin counties in Shaanxi.
In the second year of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty (1863), lily was successfully planted in Lanzhou.
In the ninth year of Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty (1883), with the attention and support of Tan Zhonglin, the governor of Shaanxi and Gansu, Lily was able to develop vigorously. The lilies grown at that time were only eaten by some dignitaries and local bureaucrats paid tribute to Qing government officials and the royal family.
