Edifier TWS5 is the first true wireless headset whose sound quality is recognized by me, and it left a good impression on me. During the National Day holiday last year, I came across his new product DreamPods at a friend’s place and fell in love with them at first sight. I bought one when I got home but my wife snatched it away. So this preview sharing was a full year later than expected. It was because my wife recently fell in love with neck-mounted Bluetooth headphones during exercise that I was lucky enough to get this pair of DreamPods back. Talking too much makes me cry (^)
Edifier TWS5 Bluetooth headset, we can finally talk about true wireless sound quality
The appearance of DreamPods shocked me, similar to Chen Peisi to Zhu Shimao What he said: I didn't expect that a rough guy like you could actually do it. . . So beautiful. Completely different from the previous black and big TWS5, the cherry red color is really delicate and charming... Don’t be too "too fashionable" when you take it out... I am the most handsome guy on the street (^o^)
The packaging is simple but not simple. The classic red and white combination is very impactful. The front is a product display; the back lists product features and detailed parameters. The most eye-catching thing is the LHDC logo in the lower right corner. In my memory, this is also the first new product of the LHDC alliance.
LHDC and HWA have a deep relationship. The former is a Bluetooth high-definition encoding protocol, and the latter is a certification system based on this protocol. Huawei used to be the leader of the HWA Alliance, so Huawei mobile phones naturally support LHDC. However, as Huawei gradually suspended the promotion of HWA, some domestic manufacturers established the LHDC Alliance last year in order to get rid of the label of HWA that was too Huawei to continue to promote the Bluetooth protocol and related products.
When you open the package, it turns into the classic red and black color scheme.
Opening the black paper box, the accessories are very simple, including a Chinese manual, a warranty card and a black USB charging cable.
The charging box of the earphones has a smooth surface and exquisite workmanship. If you look closely, you can see that this red color is not pure. Not only is there a transparent layer on the surface for protection, but the red bottom layer is also embellished with a little gold powder. This appearance is simply perfect.
There is an inconspicuous little button on the back, which is used for Bluetooth pairing and pairing between two TWS earphones, which is a little more troublesome than the current "open and ready" TWS earphones.
Edifier’s English trademark is printed on the cover. There is a TYPE-C charging port at the bottom, and there is an LED light next to the charging port to indicate the charging status.
The two earphones are all red and have no seams. They seem to be integrated, with excellent texture and a sense of luxury. The semi-in-ear design is very light and can be hung on the ear with just one click. The sound hole is right in front of the ear canal. It is very convenient, light and not burdensome. Although the sound insulation effect is slightly poor, it is more natural and comfortable to wear, and you will not feel any discomfort when listening for a long time.
The lid opens and closes very smoothly. The fit between the earphones and the battery compartment is very good, and it is very convenient to take them out and put them back. The usage experience is one of the best among the TWS earphones I have ever come into contact with. When taking it out, for someone like me who tends to get sweaty hands, just pinch it with two fingers; when putting it in, just push it in gently, and it’s directional and you won’t put it wrong. The key is to be able to put it in easily. It is plugged in to the bottom and the positioning is accurate, and there will be no problem of virtual connection of the bottom charging contacts like FIIL CC.

I have used some Bluetooth products that support the HWA protocol before, and found that both HWA and LDAC have a problem. It is especially easy to disconnect when the bit rate is high. However, the performance of DreamPods is a bit beyond my expectation. The link is very stable under static conditions. It was later discovered that it turned out to have reduced the bit rate. In the mobile phone developer options, you can see that HWA Bluetooth encoding supports up to 24bit/48kHz instead of 24bit/96kHz.
Edifier has also developed a supporting APP for TWS headphones, which is rare among domestic manufacturers. After startup, you can see the battery level of each earphone and the song information being played on the home page. Swipe left to switch between different pages. On the second page, you can customize different EQ effects. During the listening period, "Classic" is selected by default. On the third page, you can turn on the game mode to shorten the audio delay.
Click the gear button in the upper right corner of the homepage to enter the headset settings page. The product model, Bluetooth address and firmware version of DreamPods are displayed here.
You can check the user manual to learn about the basic operation of the headset. You can also decide whether to turn on the headphone prompt sound and whether to turn on in-ear detection. The tapping action of the left and right earphones can also be customized here. What’s special is that even the tapping sensitivity can be customized. This is the first time I have seen such detailed adjustment options on the TWS companion APP, which is great!
Bake in the machine for 50 hours. The mobile phone Mate20Pro (UD), Hongmeng system, Bluetooth connection, HWA high-definition encoding protocol (adaptive bit rate), up to 24bit/48kHz, Pulsar 1.9.6 plays local lossless audio files, 80~85 volume.
At first glance, it is obvious that the style is very different from the FIIL CC I recommended before. CC is warm and thick, low-frequency, with sufficient volume and powerful sound. DreamPods will be a bit disappointing at first listen. The low frequency is relatively shallow, the sense of volume is average, the details are average, and a bit blurry; the high frequency is also average, the extension is average, and the gap with wired headphones in terms of bandwidth is quite obvious. But when the song slowly unfolds, you will find that DreamPods has a highly complete sound, three-band balance, without the common problems of "thin, prickly, soft, dry", but instead performs a three-quarter acre of land. There is something different and exciting, just like a lump of dough in our eyes. In the hands of the master, he made a bowl of ramen with good color, flavor and taste. I can't help but accept it (^o^). Therefore, I have always believed that TWS products are products in which the manufacturer can fully control the final sound effect, and are also the "touchstone" that best reflects the manufacturer's comprehensive strength.
Its vocals are a bit warm and a bit mushy, and the sound is open and natural, with a strong analog flavor. It is very suitable for people like me who are not too obsessed with sound clarity. It is very relaxing to listen to, not irritating, and not stressful. You won’t get tired after listening for a long time.
Secondly, the high frequency has a strong sense of air and good dynamics. The sound produced is by no means flat or rigid, but lively, three-dimensional and vivid. Even the low frequency is elastic, regardless of male or female voices. Just like listening to it live, it can embrace you affectionately with its singing, giving you a completely immersive experience, such as IL DIVO's "ANCORA" and Katherine Jenkins' "Living A Dream." When listening to works like HAUSER's "CLASSIC", the cello's depth and texture are insufficient, but the whole sound can still be stretched, smooth and soothing, and it can still express the emotions in the song in a tearful, relaxed, realistic and not tiring way. ,great. Finally, what I can suddenly think of is that this voice is very tenacious. It lurches left and right, up and down within a limited range, but never breaks. It is like a kaleidoscope that can encompass everything - constantly moving between existence and non-existence, strength and weakness. Transformation blooms.
Generally speaking, DreamPods have average quality and average clarity, but Edifier’s tuning makes them more enjoyable. They still have fascinating characteristics and good listening resistance, and may be more suitable for people who like them. Tasty old roast. In other words, the one that looks better than him doesn’t sound as good as him, the one that sounds better than him doesn’t look as good as him, and the one that has both is not as cheap as him (^o^)
The question now is, my wife asked me to go back , what should I give? Or not?
A year later, the second generation of DreamPods is also on the market, priced at the same price. It seems that there are only white and black models, no red is seen. Unfortunately, the second generation only supports the AAC and SBC encoding protocols, and does not support the LHDC high-definition encoding protocol.
