Jinnan District is located in the southeast of Tianjin City, on the south bank of the lower reaches of the Haihe River.

It borders Tanggu District to the east, Dagang District to the south, Hexi District and Xiqing District to the west, and Dongli District across the Haihe River to the north. The area is 25 kilometers long from east to west and 26 kilometers wide from north to south. The total area is 401 square kilometers. The District People's Government is located in Xianshuigu Town.
