Historical inheritance
In the early years of the Republic of China, the word "Daoxiangcun" was very popular, and the products were extremely diversified. Tea, candies, game, roasted seeds and nuts, candied fruits, etc. Daoxiang Village’s Su-style mooncakes are especially famous and have become the authentic representative of Su-style mooncakes. The three words "Daoxiangcun" have also spread as a brand in the industry. "Suzhou Daoxiang Village" has been passed down from generation to generation through the method of "masters leading apprentices", and "shops from south to north are opened in the north, and tastes from the south are passed on to the north". Tea and food shops with the name of Daoxiang Village have been opened in dozens of cities in the north, and this continues to this day.
In 1958, the public-private partnership in Daoxiang Village, Suzhou was established as Pingjiang District Candy and Pastry Factory (the predecessor of Suzhou Pastry Factory). In 1962, the factory was made independent and the production of its front shop and back workshop was restored. During the "Cultural Revolution", the name was changed to "Red Sun", and it was merged again and established the Suzhou Pastry Factory. In March 1978, the Daoxiangcun signboard was re-established, and the Suzhou Pastry Factory was also renamed Suzhou Daoxiangcun Food Factory. Daoxiang Village has many products that have made new improvements on the basis of inheriting traditional craftsmanship. Dozens of products such as moon cakes, cloud cakes, jujube paste cakes, rose shortcakes, and vanilla cakes have been rated as provincial and ministerial excellent products many times.
