Why was Red Bull banned?

Red Bull was banned because the right to use the trademark was deprived.

In our country, energy drinks have always been favored by the people, especially in some large-scale sports activities or institutions, and have established close cooperative relationships with various types of energy drinks. However, according to relevant information, Red Bull was sued to court due to trademark issues, but failed to win the lawsuit. The right to use the trademark was deprived and sales were banned.

What happened to Red Bull is actually a reminder to other companies that they must take active action if they encounter cooperation with foreign businesses again. If there is a problem with your trademark, don't worry too much. You need to pay special attention to trademark management. Once it is used by others, it may cause legal disputes or even suffer backlash if you are not careful.

Red Bull's brand history

"Red Bull" is one of the first and most well-known energy drinks in the world. In the 1970s, the factory of Xu Shubiao, the founder of Red Bull beverage, developed a "nourishing drink" containing water, sugar, caffeine, vitamin B and other ingredients, and named it "Red Bull". Red Bull has been widely loved by Thai consumers since its launch by helping consumers stay awake and energetic during long hours of work or driving.

With the international success of Red Bull, Mr. Xu Shubiao decided to introduce Red Bull to China in order to repay his hometown. In 1993, Mr. Xu Shubiao established Hainan Red Bull Beverage Co., Ltd. in Hainan, where his ancestral home is, and Red Bull entered China. In 1995, Mr. Xu Shubiao and his family established Red Bull Vitamin Drink Co., Ltd. (joint venture) with other shareholders.

In September 2018, the joint venture’s operating period expired. In 2019, Tencel Group joined hands with local partners Guangzhou Yao Energy Drink Company and Pusheng Food Sales Co., Ltd. to launch two products, Red Bull Vitamin Flavored Drink and Red Bull Vitamin Taurine Drink, in the domestic market.
