What types of visas do foreigners hold when coming to China?

Visa for foreigners coming to China

According to the status of foreigners coming to China and the type of passport they hold, diplomatic visas, courtesy visas, service visas and ordinary visas are issued respectively.

When issuing an ordinary visa, the corresponding Chinese pinyin letters will be marked on the visa according to the purpose of the foreigner's application to come to China:

(1) D visa is issued to those who come to settle in China Personnel;

(2) Z visa is issued to persons who come to China to work or work and their accompanying family members;

(3) X visa is issued to persons who come to China to study, further education, Persons who have interns for more than 6 months;

(4) F visa is issued to those who are invited to visit, inspect, give lectures, do business, carry out scientific and cultural exchanges, short-term further study, internship and other activities in China for a period of no more than 6 months

(5) L-type visas are issued to people who come to China to travel, visit relatives or enter the country for other private matters. If more than 9 people come to China to travel in a group, a group visa can be issued;

(6) G visa is issued to persons transiting through China;

(7) C visa is issued to international train crew and international aircraft crew members who perform cabin crew, aviation and shipping tasks and seafarers on international sailing ships and their accompanying family members;

(8) J-1 visas are issued to foreign journalists who come to China permanently, and J-2 visas are issued to foreign journalists who come to China temporarily for reporting.
