Shanghai is the birthplace of modern printing in China. The Commercial Press, Zhonghua Book Company and Printing Office have an important position and influence in the modern publishing and printing history of China. During the great struggle in the period of new democracy, more than 30 revolutionary martyrs such as Liu Hua emerged in the Commercial Press and Zhonghua Book Company. In order to revitalize the national printing industry and promote the excellent Chinese culture, Shanghai Zhonghua Printing Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Printing Co., Ltd., the Commercial Press, jointly established the China Printing Exhibition Hall.
China Printing Exhibition Hall takes the development history of modern printing in Shanghai as the main line, with the theme of "Printing makes culture more splendid and the world more civilized". Through thousands of precious historical photos and objects, this paper comprehensively introduces the historical changes and development of major publishing and printing enterprises in China, such as Commercial Press, Zhonghua Book Company and Printing Factory, and their contributions to revitalizing the national printing industry, carrying forward the excellent Chinese culture and prospering the publishing and printing industry in China. The introduction of "History of Workers' Movement and Martyrs" by Commercial Press and Zhonghua Book Company in the exhibition hall is a part of the history of workers' movement in Shanghai and the history of Shanghai's party.
China Printing Exhibition Hall consists of preface hall, development history hall, corporate culture center, technical quality hall, production equipment hall, printing knowledge hall and modern products hall, with a total exhibition area of 1.500 square meters. The exhibition hall briefly introduces the process, equipment, technology and characteristics of plate making, printing and binding, and also introduces in detail the origin and development history of ancient block printing and movable type printing in China.
