Coca-Cola’s status as the world’s most valuable trademark is in jeopardy
A survey pointed out that the famous American beverage company Coca-Cola (Coca-Cola) almost took away the title of the world's most valuable trademark from the computer software giant Microsoft.
A survey by the International Trademark Consulting Company (Interbrand) in New York City pointed out that Coca-Cola’s trademark is worth US$72.5 billion, which is US$2 billion higher than the second-placed Microsoft.
However, a survey conducted last year found that the value of Coca-Cola's trademark fell by 13%. If the situation persists, it will lose its status as the world's most valuable trademark.
As for Microsoft, despite being entangled in lawsuits and being pursued by the U.S. Department of Justice for violating monopoly laws, the value of its trademarks still increased by 24% last year.
Microsoft's trademarks continue to appreciate in value
The high-tech market is bullish
International Trademark Consulting Company pointed out that for many companies, their trademarks are the most important assets .
Judging from current trends, the trademarks of high-tech companies have the greatest potential to add value. Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia, whose trademark rose 86 points last year, is the only non-U.S. company in the top 10.
At the same time, the value of trademarks of Internet companies such as Yahoo.com and Amazon.com has also increased significantly. However, the value of trademarks of so-called "old economy" companies such as Kodak and Nike continues to decline.
International Trademark Consultants evaluates the value of these companies' trademarks based on their future profit potential.
