There are no fewer than hundreds of waterproof materials on the market, but there are only about three or four types of materials that are really closely related to us. As far as the building materials market (supermarket) is concerned, they mainly include: polyurethane, acrylic, polymer cement, and cement mortar.
In terms of waterproofing performance, these four types of waterproof coatings are: cement mortar < polymer polymer < acrylic < polyurethane.
1. Environmentally friendly one-component polyurethane.
Polyurethane waterproof coating is a one-component environmentally friendly waterproof coating for liquid construction. It is based on imported polyurethane prepolymer. Basic ingredients, no additives such as tar and asphalt. It solidifies when exposed to moisture in the air, forming a strong, tough, seamless overall waterproofing membrane on the surface of the base layer.
Can be applied directly on various wet or dry substrates. It has strong adhesion to the base surface, and the polymer substances in the coating film can penetrate into the fine cracks of the base surface and have strong following properties. The coating film has good flexibility, strong adaptability to base layer expansion or cracking, and high tensile strength. The waterproofing effect is the best, but the price is also higher, the cost is higher, the drying and curing is slow, and it is rarely used in decoration companies! It must be constructed by professionals!
Construction requirements
1. The base surface is required to be flat, clean, free of sand and looseness.
2. During construction, the base surface should be inspected first to ensure that it meets the requirements. A layer of primer should be applied first, and the primer must be even.
3. After the primer is cured, apply the paint for the second time. The direction of painting must be perpendicular to the previous one to prevent missing scratches. Apply three to five times in sequence.
4. After completion, no one is allowed to enter the building before the waterproof layer is solidified, and no descending process is allowed to avoid damaging the waterproof layer.
2. Acrylic waterproof coating
Acrylic waterproof material is made of pure acrylate polymer or pure propionate emulsion, adding appropriate amounts of high-quality fillers and additives , a synthetic resin one-component waterproof coating. It is a water-soluble paint that can be diluted with water. It has greater elasticity and ductility after condensation. It has a significant waterproof effect and is moderately priced. It is the first choice for home decoration. However, it is only used by some larger decoration companies. In comparison, it is still The price is on the high side!
(1) It has excellent weather resistance, heat resistance and UV resistance. There is basically no change in performance in the range of -30℃ to 80℃. It has good elongation performance and can adapt to the base surface. A certain degree of cracking deformation.
(2) Various colors can be matched as needed, and the waterproof layer has both decorative and thermal insulation effects.
(3) Green and environmentally friendly, non-toxic and tasteless, does not pollute the environment and does no harm to the human body.
(4) The construction is simple, the construction period is short, and the maintenance is convenient.
(5) It can be constructed on wet base surfaces and has certain breathability.
3. JS composite waterproof material
JS waterproof material is a new type of waterproof material developed after absorbing advanced foreign technology. It is composed of organic liquid materials and inorganic powder materials. The waterproof coating is a kind of waterproof material that has the advantages of high elasticity of organic materials and good durability of inorganic materials.
(1) Can be applied directly on wet or dry substrates of various materials
(2) The coating is tough and has excellent water resistance, weather resistance and durability.
(3) Non-toxic, harmless, pollution-free, simple construction and short construction period.
(4) It does not crack at low temperatures and does not flow at high temperatures. It is especially suitable for waterproofing roads and bridges.
(5) -35℃ to 140℃ and can be firmly bonded with cement mortar and other materials.
4. Cement mortar type
The price is low, the construction is convenient, and the waterproofing effect is not bad. It is widely used by the majority of owners and decoration companies!
Mortar waterproof coatings are based on A two-component water-based waterproof mortar prepared from an organic emulsion material composed of acrylic emulsion and various additives, and inorganic powder composed of special cement and various fillers in a certain proportion. This type of paint is non-toxic, harmless and pollution-free, and is a truly environmentally friendly paint. It can be constructed directly on the concrete surface and adheres firmly. It is easy to construct and is not limited by the moisture content of the base layer. It dries quickly and has a short setting time. Ceramic tiles can be pasted on the surface after 2 hours of construction. However, since this type of material is a rigid waterproof coating, it lacks elasticity after film formation, and will affect the waterproofing effect due to building settlement and dislocation. It is generally suitable for parts with relatively stable structures.
5. Coiled materials
Currently some decoration companies use them! The advantages are low price and good waterproof effect!
Most waterproof coatings on the market It is a water-soluble material. Various merchants also claim that water-soluble waterproof coatings are environmentally friendly materials, while most of them claim that oil-soluble waterproof coatings are not environmentally friendly. In fact, whether it is water-soluble or oil-soluble waterproof coating, as long as it has passed relevant national environmental certifications, such as China Environmental Labeling Certification or CTC Product Environmental Protection and Quality Certification, these materials are environmentally friendly and reliable.
The following three aspects should be considered when judging waterproof materials: 1) The coating should be free of precipitation, delamination, and agglomeration; 2) There should be no strong and pungent smell; 3) Whether the construction is convenient.
In the mid-1990s, my country published the GB 5020794 national standard for "Technical Specifications for Roofing Engineering", which clearly stipulates the quality requirements, construction methods, and project acceptance of different types of waterproof coatings. , which played a positive role in the development of building waterproof coatings. However, there are no mandatory standards for waterproof coatings, and the market is relatively chaotic, requiring further regulation.
In kitchen and sanitary decoration, waterproofing is a necessary procedure. However, among the 10 mandatory national standards, there are no hazardous substance restriction standards for waterproof coatings, so it should be more important during home decoration. Further strengthen management. After some homes were renovated, they found that the smell in the bathroom and kitchen was relatively strong. After testing by the testing center, it was found that it was mainly due to pollution caused by waterproof coating, and this pollution is not easy to remove.
At present, there are two major categories of waterproof materials on the market: one is polyurethane waterproof coating. This type of material is generally made of polyurethane and coal tar as raw materials. The volatilized tar gas is highly toxic and difficult to remove, so its use was banned in my country in 2000. The polyurethane waterproof coating that is still on sale uses asphalt instead of coal tar as the raw material. However, when using this kind of coating, it is generally diluted with organic solvents such as toluene and xylene, which are also toxic; the other type is polymer cement-based waterproof coating. It is composed of an emulsion synthesized from a variety of water-based polymers and high-quality cement mixed with various additives. The flexibility of the polymer (resin) is combined with the rigidity of the cement, making it excellent in impermeability and stability. Its advantages are convenient construction, low overall cost, short construction period, and non-toxic and environmentally friendly. Therefore, polymer cement-based products have become the protagonist of the waterproof coating market.
Experts remind that some decoration companies and consumers mistakenly believe that the area for waterproofing treatment in indoor decoration is not very large. After treatment, there will still be cement and ceramic tiles on it, which will not easily cause pollution. In fact, this is not the case, because the indoor waterproof layer generally has to reach a certain thickness before it can have corresponding waterproof functions, so the amount of materials used is relatively large. Once waterproof coatings containing pollutants are used in waterproof construction, it will cause indoor environmental pollution for a long time.
At present, controlling the pollution of waterproof coatings in interior decoration mainly needs to be controlled from the materials used. Non-toxic and environmentally friendly waterproof coatings should be preferred. Currently, there are acrylic waterproof coatings and tar-free polyurethane waterproof materials on the market, which have been proven to be non-toxic, odorless and environmentally friendly products. Only indoor floors treated with this type of waterproof coating can meet the requirements of indoor environmental protection. Consumers should go to reputable markets to select materials and choose qualified home improvement companies for construction.
During the renovation process, any place where water is frequently present, such as kitchens, bathrooms, etc., should be waterproofed. The use of waterproof coatings is not only related to the overall effect of residential decoration, but also closely related to the health of residents. Waterproofing is a "hidden project" in decoration, and its effect will only appear after a long period of use. If the waterproof coating contains toxicity, it will become a hidden killer in the home. Therefore, the choice of waterproof materials cannot be ignored.
