Once China’s shortest border is opened, it may become the richest border in the future. This border line in the northwest region of our country is 92.5 kilometers long. The west of the border is Afghanistan and the east is China. Precisely because the length of this border line is very short, many people mistakenly believe that China and Afghanistan are not bordering each other. In fact, the junction between China and Afghanistan is a long and narrow strategic corridor, which is the famous Wakhan Corridor. The total length of the Wakhan Corridor is about 400 kilometers, of which 300 kilometers belong to Afghanistan and more than 100 kilometers belong to Wuhan, China. The narrowest point from north to south of the corridor is only 15 kilometers, with a total area of ??more than 60,000 square kilometers and a total population of just over 12,000. The Wakhan Corridor between China and Afghanistan is connected by a 92.5-kilometer-long border, which is also the shortest border in my country.
The Wakhan Corridor has a very special geographical location. It is located at the junction of the Kunlun Mountains, the Karakoram Mountains and the Hindu Kush Mountains in the Pamir Plateau. The average altitude of the corridor is four to five thousand meters, and the surrounding mountains There is snow all year round, but the canyons in the mountains are one of the most convenient landing routes from this area of ??China to Central Asia, West Asia, South Asia and Europe, and their strategic value is very high. This is where Master Xuanzang went to Tianzhu to worship Buddha. The nearby place that must pass through is also an important transportation artery of China's ancient Silk Road. The Wakhan Corridor is not only located at the intersection of numerous mountain ranges, but also at the intersection of four countries. In addition to China in the east and Afghanistan in the west, the Central Asian country Tajikistan is in the north and the South Asian country Pakistan is in the south. The Wakhan Corridor is like a long arm that spans hundreds of kilometers and eventually reaches the border with China.
Why did the Wahan Ziwolf form such a strange border? In fact, historically this was the territory of the Qing Dynasty. With the decline of the late Qing Dynasty's national power, the Russian Empire rapidly expanded to the south at the end of the 19th century, and British forces also took the opportunity to expand to the north. Eventually, the two empires met in Afghanistan. Since then, the two countries have continued to compete in Afghanistan, both wanting to take the lead in annexing Afghanistan, but neither country has been able to conquer the other. When the two countries were in a stalemate, the Russian Empire broke out at war with the Ottomans and Turkey on the European battlefield. At the same time, Britain also broke out at war with the Sudan on the African battlefield. In order not to continue to consume their national power in Afghanistan, in 1895, Britain and Russia Without notifying the Qing government, China arbitrarily assigned most of the Wakhan Corridor to Afghanistan as a buffer between the two countries, leaving it for future planning. Afghanistan is a blessing in disguise. The world formed its current borders. Although the entire country of Afghanistan has a very harsh geographical environment, it has a good geographical location. Located at the intersection of Central Asia, East Asia, South Asia and West Asia, it has always been the frontier for external forces to compete in Asia.
In the past 200 years, Afghanistan has been in a state of war for most of the period. As the country's worst geographical environment, they are unable to manage and construct the corridor. Therefore, the border line has been inaccessible for most of the period. China is not open to each other. So why is it said that once the border between China and Egypt is opened, it may become the richest border? On the surface, the entire geography of Afghanistan is bare and unremarkable. But it is such a harsh geographical environment that makes Afghanistan's mining conditions very good. There are very rich mineral resources underground, and most of them have not been developed. The most important of them are copper mines, lithium mines and rare earth mines. As early as 2008, China signed an agreement with Afghanistan to cooperate in developing the Aynak Copper Mine, a giant copper mine in Afghanistan. The copper mine has reserves of about 700 million tons, equivalent to 1/3 of my country's copper ore reserves. Immediately afterwards, Afghanistan discovered another one with reserves of up to one billion tons, and its economic value is inestimable.
Many people know that China is the country with the largest rare earth reserves in the world. In fact, Afghanistan is also a big rare earth country. Their rare earths are the same precious heavy rare earths as China. Rare earths are widely used in the manufacturing of various cutting-edge industrial products, allowing products to maximize their performance. Compared with copper mines and rare earth mines, Afghanistan’s lithium mines are even worse. Nowadays, major changes are taking place in the automobile manufacturing field, and new energy vehicles are also accelerating to replace fuel vehicles. The most important component of new energy vehicles is lithium batteries, and lithium ore is a very rare strategic resource. The largest lithium mine in the world is currently located in Bolivia, but the scale of the lithium mine discovered in Afghanistan is not inferior.
As a major producer and seller of new energy vehicles, China has a huge demand for Li mines.
As a neighbor of China, Afghanistan cannot do without China's technical help in resource development. Once the two countries cooperate to develop lithium ores, China will not have to look far and near to find other countries to import lithium ores. The value of Afghanistan's lithium ore resources exceeds 10,000 billion US dollars, and currently the GDP of 97 countries in the world exceeds one trillion US dollars. If China and Afghanistan want smoother cooperation, they must open their borders and open up the transportation channel of the Wakhan Corridor. In the future, if Afghanistan cooperates with China to stabilize Afghanistan, trillions of dollars of funds will be active on this border of only more than 90 kilometers. It is not impossible for this border to become the most economically prosperous and affluent in our country in the future.
