Xiaoqing River, a tributary of Haihe River, is a tributary of Juma River to the north of Daqing River. Originated in Yangjuantou Village, Changxindian Town, Fengtai District, Beijing, it flows south parallel to Yongding River. Above Fengtai Changxindian is called Yaba River, and below Daning flood detention area is called Xiaoqing River. It flows through Fengtai District and Fangshan District, leaves the city near Bajianfang in Fangshan District and enters Zhuozhou City, Hebei Province, and enters Juma River in Beijiang, Xiaoliu Village, Matou Town, Zhuozhou City. This river is 34.8 kilometers long and covers an area of 436 square kilometers.
There are Chongqing Reservoir (the junction of Fengtai District and Fangshan District) and Lujiatan Reservoir (Mentougou District) on the tributary Hedgehog River, and Daning Reservoir (the junction of Fengtai District and Fangshan District) on the main stream. Xiaoqing River is an intermittent river, which has been used as a flood diversion channel of Yongding River for generations. The flood diversion hub project of Lugou Bridge on Yongding River was built in the upstream of Lugou Bridge, and Daning Reservoir was expanded into a flood mitigation reservoir to reduce the peak flood diversion and alleviate the downstream disaster.
