I heard from the master that it is best not to bring Buddha statues. This is disrespectful and will only reduce your blessings. Unless you have received the three great precepts and have a pure body. It is best to bring Buddhist mantras, such as the Shurangama Mantra. It would be better if it has been blessed by a monk with a pure body or by a white-clothed layman who does not eat alcohol, meat, five pungents, or has no desire to do anything at home. Taboo: 1. When the couple is living together, they should be removed and placed in the Buddhist hall or a clean place.
2. Do not let dirty things such as foot washing water, dirty water, feces and urine, etc., contaminate the mantra inside. Otherwise, the spiritual energy will be lost suddenly and a new one will have to be hired.
Volume 2 of the Three Collections of Master Yinguang's Notes - Letters to Layman Wu Chongyin:
(1935)
Huijian of Layman Chongyin: Part 1 On the third day, I received two copies of "Guide Home on the Crossroads". I saw the badge attached at the end, which was quite surprising. In the second year of the Republic of China, a Taoist priest from Fayuan Temple in Beijing held a memorial ceremony for the Buddha's birthday and used a statue of Sakyamuni Buddha as a badge. Guang Jue knew nothing about it. Afterwards, Dao Jie came to Putuo and gave Guang a badge, but Guang scolded him for blasphemy. Twelve years later, it was still the same. Shanghai also imitated it, and today's lay people also imitate it. The sin of making figurines starts from the Taoist level. It is also a shame that Taoists can still preach the sutras, but they do not teach them at all with respect and respect. All the people who come to the meeting must each wear a badge. If you wear it to worship Buddha, it is not appropriate; if you wear it to worship others, it will bring bad luck to each other. However, now it has been promoted by Taoist priests and has become a general rule. Guang also knows that this matter is not easy to deal with. However, if a layman is overly in love, he has to speak out. ...
The translation is that Master Yinguang wrote:
In the second year of the Republic of China, Master Daojie held a memorial ceremony for the Buddha’s birthday and used the Sakyamuni Buddha statue as a badge (not a seal, (for finger wear), I (Master Yinguang) had absolutely no idea about this.
After this incident, a Taoist master came to Putuo and gave me a badge. I denounced it as blasphemy against the Three Treasures. In the twelfth year of the Republic of China, they were still using Buddha statues as badges, and Shanghai also imitated it. Now the lay people also do the same. The originator of this behavior is Daojie.
Master Daojie can give lectures, But respecting this aspect is not mentioned at all, which is really disappointing. Everyone who comes to this meeting must wear a badge made of this Buddha statue.
If you wear this badge to worship Buddha, It is inappropriate;
Wearing this badge to worship people will bring blessings to both the wearer and the person being worshipped.
But now it is promoted by Taoist priests and has become common. I also know that this matter is not easy to deal with, but if you lay people ask me to say it, I have to tell you this.
Yinguang would like to reply to Yihai on May 15th
Nowadays, good men and women, as well as lay people, mostly use jade (or gold and silver, etc.) Buddha statues and Guanyin statue pendants as amulets. Not only do they not wear them outside their clothes, they also stick close to the skin. They do not take them off when entering the toilet or bathing. , the crime of blasphemy is by no means superficial! How can it be possible to still hope that this will bring blessings and eliminate disasters? ! There are also rumors that men wear Guanyin and women wear Buddha to harmonize the yin and yang energy of the human body. It is really nonsense! Master Yin Guang is the incarnation of the Bodhisattva Mahasthamaprapta, and he has made a record of this abuse since its inception. In view of the prevalence of this abuse, I have specially recorded the Master's Dharma to show it to the public! I only hope that everyone will cherish the blessings and not suffer any sins!
There are many Buddhist dharma objects for body protection, which should be based on the teachings of my Buddhist scriptures. Like the Shurangama Mantra. The Seventh Volume of the Surangama Sutra at the head of the Great Buddha says: "...if in all worlds, all living beings in the country write this mantra on white birch bark and clam leaf paper (folded hair), and store it in a sachet. This man's heart is faint, If you can't recite it, you can keep it on your body or in your home. You should know that no poison can harm you for the rest of your life..."
(The merits of the Shurangama Mantra are incredible! There is too much content and will not be recorded here). There are many divine mantras that can be worn in Tantric classics, and the merits are incredible! Today's technology has produced many exquisite ornaments of various textures, containing this kind of magic charm, which not only brings blessings and protects the body, but also does not lose its beauty. It is actually a good alternative to hanging Buddha statues! I hope everyone will spread the word and everyone will receive great benefits!
It is best to wear Buddha statues with caution, and there are some precautions when wearing them.
In recent years, some people who do not understand Buddhism want to rely on Buddhist mascots as "talismans" for the safety and well-being of themselves, their families and friends. Some handicraft manufacturers have taken the opportunity to cater to people's psychological needs. The statues of Buddha and Bodhisattva are used as "talismans" such as badges and gold cards. They also promote "men wearing Guanyin and women wearing Buddha". Some people even cast Buddha statues on gold rings. They not only carry Buddha and Bodhisattva statues to unclean places such as toilets, but also use The hand with the Buddha statue ring is not clean (someone once dropped the Buddha statue hanging on the body into the toilet).
The Buddhist scriptures say: "If a person does not wash his hand and prays to the Buddha after going to the toilet, he will be guilty of immeasurable sins. After death, he will be infested with insects in the toilet." Then the sin of holding a Buddha statue in the toilet is even greater.
It can be seen that wearing a badge of Buddha and Bodhisattva does not bring blessings and attracts sins, and has no protective effect. The Buddha mentioned many times in the sutras that people should chant the holy names of Buddha and Bodhisattva, but never mentioned that people should wear Buddha statues. Nowadays, many businessmen and even some monasteries who only care about immediate profits are also using "protective Buddha" to make money. There are also some monks who have recently become monks and use badges such as Buddha statues and gold cards as gifts to make friends. In fact, they are committing sins without knowing it, and they will suffer endless suffering in the future.
In recent years, there have been many people printing Buddhist scriptures, or printing Buddha images on the cover of the scriptures. This is inappropriate and should be printed on the second page of the scriptures.
Most people who come to temples burn incense, but now many incense manufacturers do not improve the quality of incense, but use Buddha and Bodhisattva statues as packaging to attract pilgrims. People spend money to buy low-quality incense, but still put the packaging with Buddha images in the trash can, or leave it on the ground for people to step on. The crime is really unimaginable.
I hope that knowledgeable people will not buy incense with Buddha images on it in the future, and incense manufacturers will no longer use Buddha images as trademarks for packaging, but should improve the quality of incense. In this way, both those who make incense and those who buy incense can avoid sin and gain blessings, and both can benefit from it.
If you want to obtain the practical benefits of Buddhism, you must seek respect. I sincerely invite all the great virtues and faithful believers in the ten directions to respect the Three Jewels and gain practical benefits together.
The real protective items should be blessings and written "mantras" and "mantras", rather than hanging Buddha statues on the body; Buddha statues are solemn images of Dharma, which makes us respectful. Therefore, we must respect the Three Jewels and make offerings to the Three Jewels in order to learn Buddhism. Of course, broken-body Buddha statues (that is, Buddha statues that are not full-body) cannot be circulated, otherwise they will be punished and lose their blessings.
