Is there a difference between "Five Star" Moutai and "Feitian" Moutai?

There is no difference in the quality of Moutai between the "Five Star" trademark and the "Feitian" trademark. In the packaging workshop, the same batch of wine is often blended together and then packaged as "five-star" in the morning and "feitian" in the afternoon. Or at the same time, one team packs "five-star" and the next team packs "feitian". Therefore, the two brands of Moutai just have different packaging.

It is understood that the reason why the national liquor Moutai has two trademarks, "Five Star" and "Feitian", was formed under a specific historical background. In the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China, after the establishment of the local state-owned Maotai Distillery, the initial registered trademark was "Kweichow Maotai Liquor". The trademark has a pattern of workers and peasants joining hands in the center, with wavy lines on the left and right sides, and the five red words "Guizhou Maotai Liquor" below. There are large characters and ten small white characters of "Produced by the local state-owned Maotai Distillery". In March 1956, the character "moss" was restored to the character "台". In 1953, Moutai began to be sold abroad, and the trademark pattern was changed to consist of golden wheat ears and red five stars. The wheat ears are outside and the five stars are in the middle. The registered trademark is the "wheel" brand, which is the predecessor of today's "five-star" trademark, implying that Moutai is the crystallization of the New China Workers' and Peasants' Alliance. However, under the historical conditions at that time, this trademark pattern was regarded as a "political trademark" by some foreign anti-China forces, and therefore suffered some undue discrimination. In order to facilitate export sales, with the approval of the former Ministry of Light Industry, the export trademark of Moutai was changed to the "Feitian" brand in 1958. The pattern borrowed the image of "Feitian" from Dunhuang, which has a great influence on Western society, and is two fairies flying in the sky. Holding a golden cup together means that Moutai is the messenger of diplomatic friendship, and it has been used to this day.
