Kashgar pomegranate is a geographical indication certification trademark.
Pomegranate: (scientific name: Punicagranatum), also known as pomegranate and pomegranate, is a deciduous shrub or small tree. Needle-shaped branches, leaves obovate or elliptical, hairless. The flowering period is from May to June, mostly vermilion, but also yellow and white. The berries are nearly spherical and ripen from September to October. The outer seed coat is translucent and juicy; the inner seed coat is fleshy. Because of its bright colors and plump fruits, it is often used as a festive fruit to symbolize fertility and prosperity. Originating in Iran (Persia) and its surrounding areas, it was introduced to my country during the Han Dynasty. There are mainly different varieties such as agate pomegranate, pink-skinned pomegranate, green-skinned pomegranate, and jade pomegranate. It is abundant in the Kashgar region of Xinjiang, my country, so Kashgar is also known as the "Hometown of Pomegranates".
The Kashgar pomegranate production area covers the administrative areas currently under the jurisdiction of the five counties and cities of Shufu County, Kashgar City, Shule County, Yuepuhu County and Jiashi County in the Kashgar Prefecture of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
