The exhibition mobile phone LetsGoDigital website reported that HMDGlobal applied to register the "SIMLEY" trademark in Europe earlier, which is expected to be used for the eSIM or mobile payment application function of the new Nokia brand mobile phone.
According to the documents published by the European Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), HMDGlobal's application for registered trademark will involve applications such as eSIM, mobile payment and electronic wallet. However, at present, the Nokia brand mobile phone launched by HMDGlobal does not integrate the eSIM design, so it is not excluded that the new machine is expected to be announced during MWC2020, and support for eSIM design will be added.
Although eSIM design has been put forward for a long time, it has also been applied to GooglePixel series mobile phones and Apple's new iPhone models, but most mobile phone products still adopt the traditional SIM card slot design. If HMDGlobal follows the eSIM specification in the new machine this time, it may also hope to follow the future market trend faster.
Prior to this, it was reported that HMDGlobal originally planned to launch Nokia9.2, which also integrated PureView technology and off-screen lens design, and will not be announced until the second quarter. Therefore, it is expected that during MWC2020 this year, Nokia8.2, Nokia5.2 and Nokia 1.3 will be the main products.
In addition to releasing three new machines, HMDGlobal may further launch its first feature phone with Android operating system, and maintain its operation in the form of physical buttons.
