Dengbu golden melon is a traditional melon fruit in Dengbu Township, Putuo District. It has been cultivated since the Xianfeng period of the Qing Dynasty and has been cultivated to this day. It has a planting history of more than 100 years. It is a local melon variety with island characteristics. Farmers from nearby outer islands such as Peach Blossom Island and Ant Island came to the islands to ask for melon seeds.
In February 2004, the Putuo District Industrial and Commercial Bureau organized individual farmers engaged in the cultivation and management of Dengbu golden melons and established the Dengbu Golden Melon Cultivation Association. In March 2005, the trademark was registered, and the packaging boxes were designed and manufactured uniformly, and the registered trademark was uniformly used to increase the popularity of Dengbu Golden Melon. It is a new trademark golden business card for geographical indication certification of special agricultural and sideline products after "Putuo Narcissus" and "Putuo Buddha Tea".
