Lai's genealogy records that his ancestor Lai Daoguang died in and was buried in Langdong, huangping county. According to records, during Guangxu period, Grandfather Lai and his five brothers often traveled back and forth between Sichuan and Maotai to sell salt, thus knowing that Maotai was a holy place for wine making, that is, they opened a shaomao wine workshop in Yangliuwan, Maotai Village.
