The first step: Decide what kind of text, logo, or combination of text + logo to represent your product or service.
Step 2: Conduct a preliminary trademark search, including searching on Google to see if the name has already been used in the name of a company or product or service. Logo is usually less likely to clash with others. Trademark Office query website: If you are not sure whether you crashed into someone, ask an expert. If you do have a serious crash, go back to the previous step.
Step 3: Find an agent, or go to the Trademark Office to submit a trademark application yourself. If it is the latter case, at least ask a friend who understands trademarks to check whether the trademark classification to be registered is correct. It will take about six weeks after submission to receive the application for acceptance from the Trademark Office, and it will take about another year for the trademark to be registered. Whether the registration is completed or not does not affect the use of the trademark. Even if the registration fails, the use of the trademark will not be affected. It is just that it is more difficult to sue others for trademark infringement, although you can still sue others for "unfair competition." Documents required: proof of identity, company license (if the applicant/right holder is a company), power of attorney (if there is an agent), registration application. The trademark is valid for 10 years and can be renewed thereafter. It should be noted that if a trademark is not used for three consecutive years, it may be invalidated at the request of others or by the Trademark Office.
