On October 10, 1911, the Revolution of 1911 led by Dr. Sun Yat-sen opened a new page in Chinese history, and people across the country responded one after another. On October 30, 1911 (the ninth day of the ninth lunar month), the "Chongjiu Uprising" led by General Cai E overthrew the Qing Dynasty's feudal rule in Yunnan.
Mr. Geng Enci, a member of the Tongmenghui, is a follower of General Cai E. In 1918, Mr. Geng Enci was assassinated and his younger brother Mr. Geng Jinhou inherited all his property. Mr. Geng Jinhou, who had studied in Japan and returned to his hometown with the ambition of saving the country through industry, established the Asia Tobacco Factory in Kunming and named the cigarettes produced "Chongjiu" to commemorate the "Chongjiu Uprising".
A cigarette produced in 1922 by the Kunming Asia Tobacco Factory, the first cigarette factory in Yunnan Province. To commemorate the martyrs who died in the uprising to protect the country led by the famous general Cai E, "999" is used as the symbol. The brand name was changed from "999" to "Dachongjiu" in 1949.
As soon as "Chongjiu" cigarettes came out, they became popular all over the country. Especially during the Anti-Japanese War, many cigarette consumers gave up foreign cigarettes and switched to "Chongjiu".
In the 1940s, "Chongjiu" cigarettes went through many twists and turns and were finally produced by Yunnan Cigarette Factory. In June 1949, "Chongjiu" cigarettes were renamed "Dachongjiu". In 1963, Yunnan Cigarette Factory was renamed Kunming Cigarette Factory. The "Dachongjiu" produced at that time won the first place in the southwest cigarette product quality evaluation. However, in 1966, someone suggested that the "Dachongjiu" cigarette trademark "is a trademark with reactionary nature or serious feudal superstition." Under the political environment at that time, the "Dachongjiu" trademark was immediately suspended from printing, and the production of "Dachongjiu" cigarettes was also discontinued. In July 1977, Kunming Cigarette Factory began to resume production of "Dachongjiu". At the end of 1978, "Dachongjiu" was rated as a quality product by the Ministry of Light Industry. It won this honor again in 1981 and was also rated as a quality product in Yunnan Province. In 1987, "Dachongjiu" was rated as a quality product by China Tobacco Corporation. ; In 1990, "Dachongjiu" won the gold medal at the International Packaging Technology Exhibition. The "Dachongjiu" that has gone through many vicissitudes of life has maintained its strong vitality and is proudly called "the eternal Dachongjiu" by the people of Yunnan and Kunyan.
