Deng Zijun

(1876-1959), the founder of Yibin (Wuliangye) liquor. A native of Xianlin Town, Nanxi County, he studied in a private school in the countryside when he was a child. In 198, in Yibin, he successively set up a brewing workshop with Huang Jishan, Lan Dengshan and others. In 1912, it was renamed as (Liyongchuan) Winery, which brewed Daqu liquor by itself. In order to improve the quality of Daqu liquor, Deng Zijun got the formula and guidance from Zhao Mingsheng, chief brewing technician of Yibin. After more than 2 years of brewing practice, he finally tried to make a delicious, mellow, fragrant and cool Daqu liquor brewed by mixing glutinous rice, rice, sorghum, corn and adopted son. In 1932, Yang Huiquan, a former Qing Dynasty juror, praised it as (excellent wine) and named it (Wuliangye). Since then, the reputation of Wuliangye liquor has come out. In order to expand the road, Deng Zijun formally applied for registration and switched to brown bottles. The trademark is made of lithographically colored gold powder, and the pattern is marked with corn, wheat, sorghum and ear of grain, with English notes. Since then, the products have become famous at home and abroad.
