In recent days, Geely Automobile was issued a notice by the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) for using a picture of an airplane in an advertisement for the Geely Haoyue.
The cause of the matter is this: On July 11, the China Aviation Industry Cultural Center, a subsidiary of AVIC, publicly issued a notification letter to the Brand Public Relations Department of Geely Automobile Co., Ltd., the content of which showed that in March this year In March, the China Aviation Industry Cultural Center discovered that Geely Automobile used the image of the "Yun-20" aircraft developed and manufactured by the business unit of Aviation Industry Corporation of China when promoting the brand of its new car Geely Haoyue. In the video promotion, there are also shots of "Yun 20". In April, the China Aviation Industry Cultural Center had communicated with Geely about this incident. However, in July, the China Aviation Industry Cultural Center once again discovered that Geely Automobile used the image of the "Yun-20" aircraft in the promotional video of Geely Haoyue.
At the same time, the China Aviation Industry Cultural Center also stated that it has not authorized Geely Automobile to use the image of the "Yun-20" aircraft, and no Geely Haoyue Automobile has carried out joint publicity. Therefore, the China Aviation Industry Cultural Center believes that Geely Automobile's unauthorized use of the "Yun 20" trademark and image for advertising has violated its legitimate rights and interests and misled consumers, which is false propaganda. It is hoped that Geely Auto will stop disseminating the infringing media, formally apologize to Aviation Industry Corporation of China, and publish it on Geely Auto’s official platform.
On July 22, Geely Automobile officially responded to this incident.
In the statement, Geely Automobile stated that regarding recent media reports on the "Yun-20" between Geely Automobile and AVIC, the image of the large aircraft referred to in the report is not the "Yun-20". In Geely Automobile's promotional video, the large aircraft material involved in the film is not the "Yun-20" aircraft, but genuine image copyright material purchased through formal channels, which falls within the scope of legitimate copyright use. Geely Auto also stated that the video was produced by a third-party advertising company. Therefore, the content related to Geely Haoyue and "Yun 20" that appears online is not an official act of Geely. We deeply apologize for the misunderstanding caused and deleted it as soon as possible after communicating with the China Aviation Industry Cultural Center.
As the leader of Chinese automobile brands, Geely Automobile has developed rapidly in recent years. It not only acquired Volvo, Proton Motors and American Flying Cars, but also became the largest shareholder of Daimler, the parent company of Mercedes-Benz. . This series of big moves has made Geely Automobile famous all over the world.
From a sales perspective, Geely Automobile has sold more than one million vehicles for three consecutive years. It not only leads the Chinese car brands, but also has the momentum to surpass Nissan, GM and other joint venture brands, and its performance is very eye-catching.
Being able to do all of this, in addition to being relatively well-executed in marketing, also has a lot to do with Geely Automobile's excellent quality.
Today’s achievements are hard-won for Geely Automobile. From a public perspective, for such an excellent car company like Geely Automobile, we should treat it with tolerance even if there are some mistakes in advertising.
After all, Geely Automobile has made huge contributions to the development of China's automobile industry.
