On March 21, 2014, Jianshi County announced a total of 43 first-level ancient trees listed for protection. The oldest is the ginkgo tree, which is more than 1,300 years old. In Jianshi County, there are more than 500 ancient trees in the country that have been listed for protection and electronic files have been established.
Old and valuable trees, according to the regulations of the relevant departments of our country, generally large trees that are more than a hundred years old are ancient trees; while those trees that are rare, valuable or have historical value and commemorative significance can be called Famous trees.
Old and valuable trees are divided into national first, second and third grade. The "Environmental Protection Law of the People's Republic of China" stipulates that the age of national first-class ancient trees is more than 500 years old, the national second-class ancient trees are 300-499 years old, and the national third-class ancient trees are 100-299 years old.
