How to remove rust

Methods for removing rust include lemon and salt, baking soda, white vinegar, etc.

1. Lemons and salt

Choose acidic fruits such as lemons or oranges. Then cut it in half. Apply a thick layer of kosher salt to the cut surface. Next, use a lemon coated with coarse salt and rub it back and forth on the rust layer. You can easily remove the rust.

2. Baking soda

Mix baking soda and water into a solution in a ratio of 1:2. Then soak the rusty metal in it for 5 to 10 minutes, then take it out and rinse it with clean water. You can also directly add baking soda to water to make a paste. Then apply these pastes directly on the rust layer, and when the paste dries, you can wipe off the rust.

3. White vinegar

Pour white vinegar into the basin, put the rusty things into the white vinegar, and soak them for a while. Then just use a toothbrush to remove the surface rust layer. You can also directly use a cloth dipped in white vinegar and scrub it back and forth on the rusty items.

Methods to prevent iron from rusting:

1. Alloy composition method. Adding some other elements to iron to change the internal structure of the iron, such as adding chromium, nickel and other metals to ordinary steel to make stainless steel, greatly increases the rust resistance of steel products.

2. Electroplating method. The surface of iron products is plated with a layer of metal that is not prone to rust, such as zinc, tin, chromium, and nickel, using electroplating, hot plating, etc. These metal surfaces can form a dense oxide film to prevent the iron products from rusting. Contact with water, air and other substances causes rust.

3. Keep the iron surface clean. Keeping the surface of iron products clean and dry is also a good way to prevent iron products from rusting.

4. Apply protective layer method. Apply mineral oil, paint or fired enamel, spray plastic, etc.
