The History of Cabernet Sauvignon

1931: Born

After years of grafting and improvement in Yantai's vineyards, Changyu Company cultivated a wine grape variety-Cabernet Sauvignon, which was later widely recognized internationally and cultivated by China people. Changyu used Cabernet Sauvignon as the main raw material for wine making, and blended grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon to brew a dry red with a brand-new taste, which was later named Cabernet Sauvignon.

1934: Naming

Xu Wangzhi, general manager of Changyu, invited a group of literati to gather in Yantai International Club to name this dry red research. Xu Wangzhi was inspired by the business philosophy of "Chinese and Western integration" and "bringing all rivers into the sea" advocated by Zhang Bishi, the founder of Changyu, and named it "Jiebaina".

1937: Trademark Registration

On September 15th, 1936, Changyu Company applied for trademark registration for Cabernet. On June 28th, 1937, with the approval of the Trademark Office of the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of China at that time, Changyu Company officially registered the trademark of Cabernet, with the registration certificate number of "No.33477", which is now in the Second Historical Archives of China in Nanjing. For more than 7 years, Changyu Company has always used Cabernet as a brand and a registered trademark.

1939: media publicity

In the article "Analysis of Changyu wine and comparison of wines from other countries" on page 18 of the second issue of Brewing Magazine (published on April 1st, 28th, Republic of China) in 1939, the dry red wine produced by Changyu Company had the brand of "Cabernet Sauvignon".

1959-1992: Three applications for trademark registration

In 1959, Changyu's "Jiebaina" trademark applied to the then Central Administration for Industry and Commerce for registration, and was granted for filing.

In 1985 and 1992 after the promulgation of the new trademark law, Changyu Company applied for registration of the trademark "Jiebaina" with the State Trademark Office.

198s: Central Laboratory of Cabernet Sauvignon was established

Since 198s, under the leadership of Chen Puxian, the first generation female winemaker in China and the chief engineer of Changyu at that time, Zhangyu established the Central Laboratory of Cabernet Sauvignon, and improved the formula and brewing process on the basis of inheritance, making Cabernet Sauvignon a symbolic brand of high-end wines in China.

1987: Brussels Gold Award

At the 25th Brussels World Quality Product Selection Conference, Changyu Cabernet Dry Red won the gold medal.

In p>1988, Changyu Cabernet Sauvignon was awarded the title of Shandong Quality Product

In p>21, Changyu Cabernet Sauvignon was awarded the title of "China Famous Brand of Quality Wine" by China Food Industry Association

In p>22, it was approved to register

In February, the trademark of Changyu Cabernet Sauvignon was approved by the State Administration of Trademarks. In May, Changyu got the trademark registration certificate.

22-28: trademark review

Great Wall, Dynasty, Weilong and other enterprises submitted applications to the State Administration for Industry and Commerce to revoke the exclusive right to use the trademark of Zhangyu "Jiebaina", which triggered a dispute over the intellectual property rights of the trademark "Jiebaina" and entered the stage of trademark review.

25: Best Red Wine Award in Asia

in Wine &; Dine magazine selected SAWA25 as the best wine in Asia in 25, and Changyu Cabernet Dry Red ranked first in the red wine series.

25: Internationalized

Exported to 14 European countries, Changyu Cabernet conquered the critical tastes of Europeans with its unique oriental charm.
