1.--Word of mouth
A new badminton enthusiast is often dazzled by the dazzling array of racket brands on the market. In fact, the best and most direct way is to ask an experienced badminton player. Golfers, listen to their opinions. Generally, after asking a few people, you will have a rough idea of ??which brands are popular on the market and which models of rackets are best-selling in each brand.
2. --Try playing
Because there are many types of rackets, such as head-heavy, head-light, offensive, defensive, etc., with different performances. , so a racket with a good reputation may not be suitable for everyone, nor can one person play any kind of racket. It's best to find a golfing partner and try playing for a while to see how you feel. If you join the netizen club, you will be lucky. You can see almost all the famous photos here. As long as you are shameless, most people will be happy to borrow them for a while. It is better to try out the shot in singles. If you play doubles, it will be a big deal if the racket is broken. And remember, after using it, no matter how you feel, you must also praise the player with the racket greatly to satisfy their vanity. In the words of former golfers: his eyes glowed green and his mouth clicked.
3. --Seller
At this point, you should have a basic idea of ??what kind of racket you want to buy. Where to buy a racket? You must not go to department stores. The sales staff there have almost zero badminton knowledge and the prices are extremely high, unless you want to experience the pleasure of wiping your neck with a knife. Taking Changsha as an example, there are many badminton stores at the entrance of He Long Stadium and the Provincial Sports Commission. It is recommended to go to Helong. The first one here is relatively close to the activity venue of the Netizen Club, so it is convenient to find a store; the other two supplies: balls, strings, clothing, shoe cleaners, etc. are relatively cheap; and the three string pulling techniques are also relatively good.
4.--Choose a shot
This step is the key. As a reminder, if you are buying a YONEX racket for the first time, it is best to find a knowledgeable friend to go with you. There are too many fake YYs nowadays. Counterfeit products from other brands are rare.
(1) The first step is of course to look at the appearance
Check whether the paint is intact, whether the grip rubber is damaged, and whether there are any missing glue particles in the threading holes. . Some stores remove the strings of tried rackets and sell them. This can be judged by looking at whether the rubber particles have traces of pulling through the strings;
(2) Observe whether there are any traces at the connection between the grip and the racket shaft. If the racket is skewed
Put the racket surface parallel to the ground and then perpendicular to the ground. Take an aiming position and check whether the connection between the grip and the racket shaft is straight. If any side is skewed, you should definitely not use this racket;
--
(3), focus on observing the racket frame and threading holes
Look especially at the racket frame Are there any cracks or pores? Then check whether the rubber particles in the threading holes are damaged, and pay attention to whether all the threading holes are on the center line of the racket frame. These are very important, because a racket frame has to withstand hundreds of kilograms of tensile force, and uniform stress is the key. Whether there is a defect in the racket frame or rubber particles, the racket or feather string will die prematurely. Some rackets suddenly break without being bumped after pulling the string, most likely due to internal injuries;
Please pay attention, the following two are tips for judging the quality of the racket.
(4). Twist the racket frame.
Hold the racket handle with one hand and the head of the racket frame with the other hand, twist it back and forth several times like twisting a towel. One, pay attention to the degree of deformation at the connection between the racket frame and the racket shaft, and the other, pay attention to whether there is any looseness or abnormal noise at the connection between the racket shaft and the grip. A good shot must have very little frame deformation. And some poor racket frames can easily become like twists. Such rackets feel unstable and vibrate when hitting the ball, and the feel is very poor. YY rackets do this best because the built-in T-head technology at the connection between the racket frame and the racket shaft makes the racket frame feel very stiff and stable when twisting.
(5), flick the racquet head.
Remove the label paper and other accessories of the racket, place the handle of the racket on the table, press it with your hands, and extend the racket frame outside the table. The racket surface is parallel to the ground. Use your fingers to hook it. Hold the top of the racket head, pull it up or down vertically and then let go, and observe vertically the bounce of the racket surface. If the racket surface keeps bouncing up and down and the left and right swing is very small - a good shot; if the left and right swing is large, try changing to the next shot.
Due to manufacturing process issues, even rackets of the same model cannot be 100% consistent. Even top-level YY rackets will have differences.
The problem of uneven material distribution is difficult to observe with the naked eye, but using the method introduced above, you can choose a better one from the same model of racket.
Let me digress here, why are the CN and CP version of YY rackets dedicated to the national team so much more expensive than commercial rackets of the same model. In fact, the manufacturing process is the same, but the CN and CP versions are strictly tested to ensure that there are no defects and the material consistency is very good before leaving the factory. This can prevent the racket from causing problems under the huge strength of professional players.
5. --String
At this point, friends should be able to choose a more satisfactory racket. But some people often overlook another important issue---pulling the cable. One is what to pull the thread, and the second is how to pull the thread. Due to space constraints, I will briefly mention it here. For other details, please read my old posts.
As the saying goes, a good horse must be equipped with a good saddle. Does a good racket have to be equipped with expensive feather strings? uncertain. I think this problem can be solved simply. Just use YY feather thread, don’t worry about other brands. YY badminton strings are made of BG65 and GB65Ti. No matter how expensive they are, they are not necessary for ordinary golfers. Many people here may have an illusion that the more expensive the wire, the more durable it will be. In fact, it's just the opposite. The more expensive the wire, the thinner the wire diameter, the elasticity and other properties are better, but the less durable it is. BG65 is the largest-selling YY feather line in history and has the best durability. BG65Ti has slightly better elasticity, but its durability is nearly one-third worse than BG65. So what kind of thread to use is a matter of balance between durability and other properties. It depends on your financial strength and choice.
