GE Energy changed its name to Qihetong Energy mainly because of its spin-off and listing.

General Electric (GE) announced that it will form three industry-leading global listed companies, focusing on growth industries such as aviation, medical and energy. Six months after announcing its spin-off plan, General Electric (GE) announced the new names and business structures of three independent companies. Among them, the medical business will be renamed GE HealthCare after the split; renewable energy, power, digital and energy financial services will be merged into the new company GE Vernova; and the aviation business will be named GE Aerospace.
