What's the difference between Madrid Agreement and Madrid Protocol?
Madrid Agreement and Madrid Protocol are two parallel treaties, which are independent of each other and have their own members, but their members overlap. The signing of the Madrid Protocol aims to introduce some improvement measures into the Madrid system and make up for some defects of the Madrid Agreement, thus attracting more countries or organizations to join. The main differences between the two treaties are as follows:

(1) According to the Protocol, an applicant can submit an application for an international registered trademark on the basis of basic registration or basic application, while according to the agreement, an application for an international registered trademark can only be submitted on the basis of basic registration;

(2) According to the Protocol, the time limit for refusal by the competent authorities of both contracting parties may be 65,438+02 months, or it may be extended to 65,438+08 months by declaration. According to the agreement, the refusal time limit can only be 12 months;
