After graduating from Osaka School of Design, he entered Kyoto Animation Studio (the predecessor of Kyoto Animation). After joining the club, I began to draw original paintings and animations for several years. Later, Doraemon of 1992 participated in the performance for the first time, and then began to turn to professional performances. After the transformation of Kyoto animation business, it began to make animation independently. As the core figure of the well-received performance lineup of Kyoto Animation Society, he assumed the position of producer of most Kyoto animation productions. His supervision style is rigorous, his performance style is changeable and skillful, and he has a good grasp of the rhythm of his works. Almost all the works he directed have become well-known and blockbuster works, which makes the name of Kyoto animation trademark famous among animation fans.

In 2005, he was the director of the TV animation Air for the first time, and was widely praised for his high-quality paintings and skillful performance skills. Later, he served as the producer of many popular works of Kyoto animation for many times, including Cannon, CLANNAD, Melancholy in Spring Palace, and The Disappearing of Spring Palace.

He has a good relationship with the animator Fumihiko Shimo, and most of his series of works are created by Fumihiko Shimo. In Spring in Mia, Harito, Aya Hirano, an actor who happened to see the melancholy animation scrawled on the script, was brought into the animation. And randomly name the related radio programs with a line in CLANNAD.
